Aim :Burnout, as a psychological syndrome resulting from chronic occupational stress, poses a threat to the mental health and professional performance of counselors. This study aimed to design and validate an intervention package to reduce burnout among counselors, based on their lived experiences. Method :This study was part of a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design. In the qualitative phase, a phenomenological approach was used to explore lived experiences, and in the validation phase, content analysis and inter-rater agreement coefficients were employed. The statistical population consisted of 575 counselors in the city of Yazd, along with experts in psychology and counseling. Sixteen counselors were selected for qualitative interviews and eleven experts participated in the validation process. Purposive and convenience sampling methods were used. The instruments included semi-structured interviews and focus group sessions. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi’s method and the Content Validity Ratio (CVR). Results: Key themes were: symptoms (anxiety, fatigue), contributing factors (emotional pressure, perfectionism), consequences (reduced work quality), and coping strategies (self-care, supervision). Based on these themes, a 10-session intervention integrating effective psychotherapeutic approaches was developed. The mean CVR for the sessions was 0.83.Conclusion: The proposed package demonstrates high validity and may serve as an effective tool for reducing counselor burnout. It is recommended that its effectiveness be evaluated in future studies.
