Abstract
Aim: The purpose of this research study is to study the relationship between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence and occupational stress among bank employees.
Methods: The method of this research study is correlational. Its statistical population is Melli bank employees of Semnan province (470 people) and the sample consisted of 212 people that were selected by using simple random sampling method. Bar-On Emotional Quotient inventory (1997), Amram and Dryer spiritual intelligence inventory (2007) and HSE stress questionnaire (2008) were used for collecting data. Results: Pearson test results showed inverse relationship between emotional intelligence, spiritual intelligence and occupational stress. Regression results showed almost 69 percent of stress variance is explained by emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence. Structural equation modeling also showed occupational stress management is explained by emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence. Conclusion: Emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence are important factors in reducing occupational stress and managers with improving them in the staff can help to increasing organizations' productivity. In addition, managers should assess the emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence of people and employ those who are more intelligent emotionally and spiritually.
