Abstract

Aim: The present study was conducted with the aim of identifying consequences of employee’s silent resignation. Method: Employing a systematic review and meta-synthesis approach, the findings of prior research were analyzed comprehensively. Given the novelty of the subject, a review of existing literature in reputable Persian databases revealed a lack of accessible studies aligned with the research objectives. In total, 216 scientific texts in English were identified, out of which 70 studies were selected for final analysis. The PRISMA framework guided the selection process, and the CASP checklist was used to assess the quality and eligibility of the sources. Data extraction and initial coding were performed using MAXQDA2024 software. To validate the developed conceptual model, thematic analysis was employed. Inter-coder reliability was assessed using Cohen’s Kappa coefficient. Moreover, the content validity of the model was confirmed by 20 academic experts using the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI). Results: As a result of data analysis identification and clustering of 350 initial codes, 61 basic themes, 14 organizing themes, and 3 overarching global themes. The consequences associated with employees' silent resignation were categorized into three key dimensions: individual, group, and organizational. Conclusion: The results emphasize the vital interplay of macro-level societal trends, meso-level organizational practices, and micro-level individual experiences in understanding and addressing employees’ silent resignation.
