Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the role of person-job fit on innovative work behavior (IWB) by the mediating role of teachers' job independence and engagement. Method: This applied research is a descriptive type of structural equation model correlation in terms of method. The study's statistical population consisted of primary school teachers in Zahedan (2200 people), and 329 people were selected through stratified random sampling using Krejcie and Morgan Table. The Questionnaire Of Vogel & Feldman’s Person-Job Fit (2009), Innovative Work Behavior Scale (2000), Scale of Job Independence of Pearson & Hall (1993), and Work Engagement Scale of Salanova and Schaufeli (2001) was used for data collection. Using Pearson correlation statistical methods and structural equation modeling, research data were analyzed by SPSS 23 and Lisrel 8.8 software. Findings: The results indicated that the person-job fit directly has a positive and significant effect on innovative work behaviors. It positively and significantly indirectly affects innovative work behaviors via job independence and work engagement.  Conclusion: According to the findings, it is possible to suggest that teachers should be selected who are fit with the teaching profession, their engagement in the teaching job to be evident, and job independence should be provided to the teachers to increase innovative work behaviors.
