Aims: The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of dialectical behavior therapy on self-compassion and psychological flexibility in workers with work-family conflict. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest post-test design and a control group with a two-month follow-up stage. The statistical population included the employees with work-family conflict at Iran Khodro Company (Tehran) in the second half of 2019-2020. Thirty employees with work-family conflict were randomly selected and assigned to experimental and control groups (n = 15). The experimental group was trained in dialectical behavior therapy for ten sessions. The Work-Family Conflict Scale (Carlson et al., 2000), the Self-Compassion Scale (Neff, 2003), and the Psychological Flexibility Inventory (Denis and Vanderwall, 2010) were used. Data were analyzed by repeated-measures analysis of variance using SPSS-23 software. Results: The results showed that dialectical behavior therapy significantly affected the self-compassion and psychological flexibility of employees with work-family conflict (p < 0.001). This therapy could lead to improvements in employees' self-compassion and psychological flexibility. Conclusion: According to the present study, dialectical behavior therapy could be used as an efficient therapy to improve the self-compassion and psychological flexibility of employees with work-family conflict by using techniques such as stress-bearing, acceptance, and emotional self-regulation.
