Aim: The present study was conducted to determine the importance of vocational skills required by students of labor and technology in the documents of the upstream educational system. Methods: The study population in the present content analysis included the content of upstream documents. The census method was used, and all upstream documents were assessed using a researcher-created construct for the content analysis of occupational skills in labor and technology. Results: Professional skills students need in work and technology can be divided into three main categories (personal, professional, and technical) and 21 subcategories. Overall, personal skills (45%), professional skills (32%), and technological skills (23%) were addressed in the content of the upstream documents, with the highest coefficient of importance related to the National Comprehensive Scientific Plan (0.41) and the lowest related to general employment policies (0.12). Conclusion: Considering the primary mission of the work and technology course, the acquisition of practical life skills, personal, professional, and technological competencies must be addressed in an integrated way.
