Purpose: The first aim of this study is to train and to improve the leadership competencies of transformational, team-building, and strategic thinking using the principals of deep learning. The second aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of this intervention according to the decision-based evaluation model. Method: A semi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test was used. We got 10 of managers using a simple random method. Then, participants responded scales on self-efficacy, knowledge and situational judgment tests in the pretest and posttest. We used a workshop as our main intervention in which all participants were trained with a structured training program. The time interval between the pretest and posttest was one month. Result: The results showed this training program enhanced the transformational leadership competency in all three dimensions of affective, cognitive and behavior in the decision-based evaluation model. However, it was found that the intervention did not similarly enhance the team-building competency. The same intervention program only enhanced the strategic thinking competency in the affective dimension. Conclusion: This structured training program provided a foundation to develop the leadership competencies in the component level. Upon these findings, it is recommended to consider the capability of the enhancement in leadership competencies while we design a training intervention.
